Equity statement & commitment

Equity: Every body is not equal because white supremacy, systemic oppression, classism, and racism suppressed Black people, Indigenous, and bodies of culture. We are all on stolen land ridden with genocide, discrimination, and slave labor. The inequities of all systems (government, education, tax codes, healthcare, etc.) in the United States are flawed and cause trauma. Underrepresentation and lack of care for those who have been historically marginalized creates dis-ease. Dis-ease is a byproduct of non-equitable systems and history. Everyone deserves equal access to healthcare and tools to heal their body. Yin Apothecary aims to work with Every Body, to heal past trauma, the trauma of our nation in and outside the clinic space. Yin Apothecary contributes to a more just, anti-racist, and equitable future. As a business owner, I acknowledge that I, Serena Whitridge, am a white, cis-gendered female with a lot of privilege. I want to decentralize my privelege. I have a lot of work to do.

Yin Apothecary strives to create a healing environment for bodies of culture that have been discriminated against. Nobody is turned away for treatment. Please reach out if you are unsure you can afford acupuncture or Chinese medicine services. Most insurances are accepted.

I challenge inequities and works in partnership to create change in the clinics I do not own, but work with/for.
Land Acknowledgement:
I acknowledge I am on stolen land from the wasco and wishram tribes, the confederated tribes of grand ronde, warm springs and siletz nations. This acknowledgment does not end here. I aid these tribes financially. I acknowledge that our nation's town/cities/agriculture is founded upon exploiting black and brown people.
White folks and consumerism have wreaked havoc on these lands, waterways, and ecosystems. I pledge to help remove dams, create more wild habitat, protect ecosystems and our fish species via legistlation and nonprofit organization + individual tribes. Nature is medicine, especially when it is healthy.
