Meet Serena Whitridge, DSOM, MScN
I grew up understanding nature as a valuable teacher. In my undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont (UVM), I pursued a degree in Environmental Studies and minored in food systems. This degree allowed me to be outside and explore systems thinking. The health of the farm required analyzing the whole ecosystem: the soil, native habitat, and diversity of crops.

I received my Master’s degree in nutrition and continued to study, receiving a doctorate degree in Chinese Medicine. At the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR, the body is discussed with emphasis on the whole. The ancient Chinese applied the dynamic principles of the natural world to the human body. Practitioners are taught to look at the whole body and assess health from a naturalistic and dynamic viewpoint. Philosophically, the body is an ecosystem. Taking care of the body is a way to preserve self, but also tune into the natural world.

In my clinical practice, I look at the whole body and assess information about how bodily systems are functioning. I work to ensure your health and wellbeing are at its paramount. When I am not in the office you can find me exploring the Cascades. Biking, hiking, skiing, laughing, eating good food, and spending time with my dog, which are times I feel most at home in my body.
